John's Spring 2012 Trip
The spring mission trip will consume the month of May. Once again I will be traveling throughout Ukraine following up on shipments of benevolent items and meeting with brethren. This trip will conclude with me attending a conference in Odessa that is hosted by the United States Department of State. I will be presenting the wok that the churches of Christ have accomplished in Ukraine and neighboring nations of Eastern Europe. During this time in Odessa I will meet with the Port Customs officials and have them explain why our containers are opened (this is an on-going battle).
During this trip I will conduct the wedding of Ruslan and Masha in Ivano-Frankivsk. You will remember my describing this couple from previous reports. Ruslan is the son of Ivan and Sveta and Masha lives in Ivano-Frankivsk having her family in one of the villages several hours from the city. Masha's family are very devout Greek Catholics and have pressured this young couple to become Greek Catholic.
Also while I am in Ivano-Frankivsk I plan to see the beginning construction of the meetinghouse for the Ivano-Frankivsk congregation. This structure will be built on the plot of land that has been given to the Church because of its involvement in helping the community's medical and educational systems.
As I go into southern Ukraine I will once again spend some time in the Crimean Peninsula and meeting with brethren in Sevastopol and Simferopol.
